Covenant (Our Commitment)
We practice what is called “church membership.” The Bible teaches that being a part of a church is much more than simply attending a worship service — being a member of a church is a commitment to watch over and care for other members and be watched over and cared for by other members. In church membership we commit to be accountable for our fellow members and accountable to our fellow members. At Renewal, each one of our members agrees to walk by and uphold our Church Covenant.

Renewal Church Covenant
Having received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and having been baptised in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we, in unity, joyfully enter into this covenant with one another as one body in Christ. We express our commitment:
Our life before God
-
We will not neglect gathering together to worship God (Hebrews 10:25).
-
We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).
-
We will use our gifts to serve God and His Church (1 Peter 4:10–11).
-
We will commit to upholding evangelism and discipleship.
-
We commit to follow the leadership of the church as they follow Christ (Hebrews 13:17).
-
We will give faithfully to the ministry of the church (1 Corinthians 16:2).
-
We will defend and uphold a gospel ministry of the church through:
-
The preaching of the Word of God (2 Timothy 4:2).
-
The administration of the Gospel sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper) (Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 11:26).
-
The exercise of restorative church discipline (Matthew 18:17; 1 Corinthians 5:13).
-
Our Life Together
-
We will pray for one another (Colossians 4:2; Hebrews 10:25).
-
We will rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep, helping to carry each other’s burdens (Romans 12:15).
-
We promise to bring up our children and youth in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4; 1 Peter 3:1).
-
We will love, encourage, and build one another up in Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:2; 5:11; Romans 15:5; 1 Peter 1:22).
Our Life in the World
- We commit to inviting others to hear the gospel (Luke 14:23).
- We will warmly welcome visitors among us (Romans 15:7).
- By a pure and loving example, we will seek the salvation of our family and friends (Matthew 5:16).
- We will continually pray for the salvation of the unsaved (1 Timothy 2:1).
- We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word (Hebrews 10:24–25).
- May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen (2 Corinthians 13:14).
